Jill Bennett was an American actress who was born on December 24, 1931, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and died on October 4, 1990, in Rochester, New York. She was best known for her work in films and television shows such as "The Nanny," "The Sheltering Sky," and "For Your Eyes Only."
Bennett started her career on stage, working with productions such as the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Canada. She made her film debut in 1951 in "Kind Lady" before going on to star in numerous films throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Her most notable film roles include her performances in "The Nanny" (1965) as the troubled nanny in Bette Davis' household, and "The Sheltering Sky" (1990) as the manipulative Marhnia.
Bennett also appeared on television throughout her career, with roles in shows such as "The Twilight Zone," "The Eleventh Hour," and "The Wild Wild West." She was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards for her work in "The Invisible Man" and "The Doctors."
Jill Bennett was married twice, first to fellow actor John Osborne and then to jazz musician Tubby Hayes. She had two sons, one with each husband. She died at the age of 58 due to unknown causes.
